What a crazy year it has been! August 14, 2020 marked our first wedding of 2020! It is still hard to even fathom that fact. By mid-August, we usually have already shot somewhere between 10-12 weddings. But this year is clearly different and in some strange way beautiful all on its own. Maggie and Tim had planned a big wedding in Colorado but when Covid derailed their plans, this sweet couple chose an intimate wedding with just immediate family at a private winery estate in Calistoga. It was an exceptionally warm day but no one seemed to mind. The setting of Heritage School Vineyards was the most stunning backdrop; majestic oak trees, lush garden pathways, vineyards and heritage olive trees flanking the dining patio. Meeting Maggie, her sister and in-law family face to face felt so natural. All the ladies were in such lovely spirits and so welcoming to me being a part of such a special day. Though we didn’t get to hug, I felt so much warmth from everyone. At the end of the evening as guests were enjoying their first course, I said my goodbyes to the group and was given the most generous ‘thanks’ from everyone! I truly felt like a part of the family.
One of my favorite moments (a last minute decision!) was capturing Maggie and Tim separately having a zoom call with their would-be wedding party. What a sweet moment witnessing Maggie’s best friends getting to see her in her gown just before walking down the aisle. Tim and his brother got to cheers with his groomsmen and share a laugh. In these challenging times, I am so impressed and fulfilled to see my couples finding and embracing creative ways to get married. It may not look like what they initially envisioned but there is still joy, there is still candid moments, there is still immense love and celebration. Congratulations Maggie and Tim!
